Mission

Our Purpose

The Unmasked Project focuses on providing essential support for women diagnosed with autism later in life, often after years of misdiagnosis. Our goal is to offer accessible resources and information that simplify the complex and often costly diagnosis process, ensuring that every woman feels empowered and informed on her journey.

Vision Statement

We envision a future where every woman—no matter her age, background, or presentation—has access to accurate diagnosis, compassionate support, and the confidence to live authentically.
The Unmasked Project strives to transform how society, clinicians, and institutions understand autism in women—moving from invisibility to inclusion.

Core Values

1. Empowerment
We believe that knowledge is liberation.
We provide tools, education, and peer networks that help women understand their experiences and advocate for themselves with confidence and clarity.
2. Validation
We honor every story.
Many women have spent decades feeling misdiagnosed, dismissed, or misunderstood. We validate those journeys and create space for healing and self-acceptance.
3. Access & Equity
We work to break down systemic barriers to autism evaluation, diagnosis, and support—particularly for those marginalized by gender, race, or socioeconomic status.
4. Authenticity
We celebrate women who are ready to drop the mask.
We encourage living truthfully and unapologetically, replacing shame and confusion with self-knowledge and pride.
5. Collaboration
We believe in the power of community.
We partner with clinicians, advocates, educators, and allies to expand awareness and build sustainable systems of support.
6. Education & Awareness
We strive to reshape public understanding of autism in women through research translation, storytelling, and professional training.
